About Us
Uganda Diabetes Association (UDA) is a non-governmental, not for profit organization that cares for, unites and advocates for people affected by or at risk of diabetes and their families in Uganda.
UDA was founded by Professor M.A Otim in 1982 and was inaugurated in 1983 by Late Vice President Paul Muwanga.
Uganda Diabetes Association is registered with the Registrar of Companies and was incorporated in June 28th 2006.
We are members of International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and Uganda Non-Communicable Disease Alliance (UNCDA)
UDA is a member of the Ministry of Health multisectoral committee on Non-Communicable Diseases.
We have 23 branches spread throughout Uganda namely Mulago, Entebe, Jinja, Bugiri, Tororo, Fortportal, Mbale, Kumi, Soroti, Lira, Gulu, Kabale, Mbarara, Arua, Bushenyi, Mengo, Mityana, Mubende, Masaka, Kitwe, Kawolo, Kiwoko and Busiro East.
Vision
A Uganda with reduced incidence of diabetes and improved quality of life for people living with diabetes.
General Goal
To reduce the incidence of Diabetes by 20% and improve quality of life of people living with Diabetes by 20% by 2028.
Our mission:
To prevent Diabetes among the general public and improve quality of life of people living with diabetes through health education and capacity building of health care personnel.

Governance
HOW WE ARE GOVERNED
Every branch sends two (2) members to constitute the general assembly every year. It is the general assembly that selects the National Executive Committee (NEC) every three (3) years. NEC works with the administrator to implement the decisions made by the general assembly. We have a general constitution that guides our meetings. The branches are autonomous but there is a memorandum of understanding between the branches and the association.
